“Easy reading is damn hard writing.”
~ Nathanial Hawthorne
I love technology and am passionate about making the complex simple. I’ve written system administrator guides for fiber optic telecom companies, online help for networking products, technical training material for semiconductor chip development, installation manuals for IP security devices, and more.
Creating customer solutions that bridge multiple product lines across evolving platforms is challenging, especially when cross-functional teams with competing needs are collaborating on the solution. I work with stakeholders to understand requirements and constraints and develop an effective communication solution.
For a design to see the light of day, it needs to be effectively communicated to the engineering team that builds it. I translate design intent into technical specifications for global firmware teams and ideate as needed, working closely with engineering, product management, and design teams until the product goes to market.
I develop content for enterprise and consumer applications. For B2B software with a technical audience, content includes concise setting descriptions, task-based menu content, and meaningful error messages. For consumer products, the focus is on intuitive, friendly copy that reinforces brand and supports the user journey.
My work here involves a significant amount of writing and re-writing to get to the crux of a product’s value propositions in an elegant, impactful way. As Anton Chekov once said, “Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.” I write and edit marketing collateral that tells a story across web copy, brochures, and articles.
